Blush and Wild.
I met Photographer Sharan in 2024, where she had not long started her business Blush and Wild. She creates portraits of real women from all walks of life ( as in not models) in amazing outfits like flying dresses and embodies female empowerment. I have always loved being a part of this process for all these women. I get huge gratification hearing each and every woman’s story, connecting with them and transforming them ready for their photoshoot. When they sneak peak at the back of the camera what has been captured. The joy and surprise of ‘Is that ME!?’ is priceless.
I think it is key to be able to make someone feel super comfortable in the hair and makeup hot seat, as a professional makeup artist you are trusted to get up close and personal with someone very quickly. I have realised that this is a skill that comes pretty naturally to me. I’m not really sure why or how as I as so quiet as a child. On reflection, I am an empath and not only resonate with a human experience and story, I feel people’s energy and pain, joy, journeys. I believe they have helped me on my journey too. I learn a bit from each person, about their strengths and weaknesses that through adversity comes immense growth.
Sometimes the right person turns up with a podcast to recommend or a book, or they have some kind of wisdom that I will literally soak up like a sponge.
Thank you to Sharan for trusting me with her precious clients and thank you to all the women who have trusted me to do their hair and makeup for their shoots.
Sharan also created beautiful fine art style boudoir shoots for women as well. I love how this is such a beautiful safe space for females. She also runs intimate women’s circles and calls it a sisterhood. Which I have also been to, they are incredible moving and there is something so powerful about congregating with fellow women and sharing a space to just be. Yeay to Sharan for celebrating women and doing something so meaningful.
